Municipal Elections

The next Municipal Election will be held in October 2027.

The Municipal Election happens every four years to vote in a Municipal Council that consists of one Mayor and eight Councillors.

Voting is an important part of our democratic system. The decisions made by members of Council affect the daily lives of all residents in the City of Iqaluit.

To be eligible to vote you must be:

• a Canadian Citizen;
• 18 years or older on election day;
• a resident of Nunavut for at least one year on election day;
• a resident of the community on election day; and
• not disqualified from voting.

If you are not on the voters list, you can register online or in-person when you go to vote.
