Young man charged following a shooting incident on Catherine Street in late March

(Ottawa)—On March 26th 2020, police responded a call for service about a shooting incident in the 400 block of Catherine Street and found that a residence was shot at. No one was injured.

Suspects have been identified during the ensuing Ottawa Police investigation and on May 7th the Guns & Gangs Unit, with assistance from the PIVOT Unit, arrested a male.

Today, the 14 year old male attended a Show cause court hearing facing numerous firearms offences, including: 

  • Use firearm Carelessly
  • Possession of a weapon dangerous to the public
  • Pointing a Firearm
  • Possession of an unregistered restricted weapon
  • Possession of a firearm knowing it’s possession is unauthorized
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle
  • Possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition
  • Discharge a restricted firearm or prohibited firearm into or at a place in a reckless manner
  • Possession of a scheduled substance CDSA (2 counts)
  • Fail to Comply with YCJA disposition (5 counts)

Per the YCJA, he cannot be identified.

The Guns & Gangs Unit continues to investigate this incident, so no further comment can be made at this time.
