Yearbook shares Region’s progress on building a community where everyone can thrive

Waterloo Region – The Region of Waterloo is releasing its first yearbook, 12 stories of change that shares progress the Region and its partners are making on building a community where everyone can thrive.

Every four years, the Region develops a Strategic Plan based on input from the community. The community identifies key priorities and the Region develops actions that work towards the goals in the plan. Now we are sharing how those actions are making a difference in people’s lives across the region.

“Waterloo Region is one of the fastest growing communities in Canada, and we have a lot to be proud of,” says Regional Chair Karen Redman. “We’re planning for that growth. We also hear how challenging life is, and we are working to make it better.”

“This past year, we took climate action. We created more affordable housing. We worked to make our roads safer,” says CAO Bruce Lauckner. “We did this because we are committed to making this the best community to live in, for everyone.”

The yearbook contains interactive stories that show progress the Region is making with its partners on strategic priorities, including:

  • A Public Health bus increasing access to services in over 100 neighbourhoods;
  • Doubling the number of people with access to public transit through the Affordable Transit Program; and
  • Installing cameras near schools led to lower speeds in those areas.

These are just a few of the impactful stories we invite the community to explore as we continue to share our progress on building a Waterloo Region where everyone can thrive.
