Waterloo Region - Here's a list of Region of Waterloo service changes for the Thanksgiving Day holiday weekend - Monday, October 14, 2019 

Look for The Region of Waterloo’s float in the Oktoberfest/Thanksgiving Day parade. – Monday, October 14.

What’s open/not affected:

Customer service kiosk hours: 10:05 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. (Closed 1:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.) 
Building hours: 7:30 a.m. – 1:00 a.m.

Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum – Open 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Join us for fun events all weekend long.

Saturday, October 12, noon to 4 p.m. – Celebrate autumn at our Autumn Splendour event. Learn about pumpkins, trees, and leaves and be onsite as we get a visit from the Ontario Hawking Club showing off their hawks and falcons.

Sunday, October 13, noon to 4 p.m. – Join us for Korean Cultural Day and meet the HAENYEO divers. Don’t miss this rare chance to hear them sing and learn all about their unique skills. Each of their traditional song performances will be followed by a modern K-pop dance.

Monday, October 14, 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. – We’re open Thanksgiving Monday for our Harvest Celebration. Bring your family for an afternoon of fun activities and enjoy the magnificent colours of fall in the Village. Festivities include horse-drawn wagon rides, musical entertainment, seasonal activities, and samples of delicious heritage apples.

Schneider Haus National Historic Site – Open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Join us all weekend for Erntefest – Harvest Festival. We’ll be preparing and baking traditional German recipes. We’re open on Thanksgiving Day! Drop by after the Oktoberfest Parade and try some traditional German Zwiebelkuchen (Onion Cake) and Pflaumenkuchen (Plum Cake) freshly baked in our historic wood oven. Included with general admission.

Region of Waterloo International Airport – Open - Will not be affected. 

Garbage, recycling, green bin and yard waste    Curbside collection as usual on holiday Monday, October 14.  All items should be at the curb by 7 a.m.

All waste sites will be closed on Monday, October 14 for residential drop off and compost pickup.

Reminder! Double garbage days this week for Kitchener and the townships (week of Oct 14 to 18); next week is double garbage days for Cambridge and Waterloo (week of Oct 21 to 25)

What’s running on a special schedule:

Grand River Transit (GRT) will be operating on a holiday service schedule on Monday, October 14, 2019. Plan ahead and load an EasyGO fare card with a Day Pass and enjoy unlimited travel with the family.

What’s Closed:

All Regional Administrative Offices, including Home Child Care (99 Regina – Waterloo, 150 Frederick – Kitchener, 150 Main – Cambridge, 235 King – Kitchener, Airport Administrative offices) – Closed 

Cambridge and Waterloo small vehicle transfer stations for residential waste drop-off - Closed

All Region of Waterloo Library locations– Closed 

Region of Waterloo children’s centres – Closed 

Sunnyside Home reception and administration – Closed

Sunnyside Wellness Centre – Closed

Community Alzheimer Day Program – Kitchener, Cambridge & Waterloo – Closed
