What's Open, what's closed and what's happening over the holidays
Waterloo Region – Here is a list of Region of Waterloo service changes for the Christmas and New Year’s holidays:
All Regional Administrative Offices (99 Regina – Waterloo, 150 Frederick – Kitchener, 150 Main – Cambridge, Airport Administrative offices.) – Closed Wednesday, December 25, Thursday, December 26, 2019 and Wednesday, January 1, 2020.
Service first call centre – 519-575-4400, will not be affected.
Grand River Transit
Grand River Transit buses will be running on Christmas holiday service from December 23, 2019 – January 5, 2020. Please visit www.grt.ca for full details.
Christmas Day – Wednesday, December 25
- Route 301 ION light rail: Service every 30 minutes until approximately 10 p.m.
- Routes 7, 51, 201, 302: Service every 30 minutes until approximately 6 p.m.
- Routes 1, 6, 8, 12, 55, 56, 59, 60, 61, 202, 203, 204, 205, 206: Service every 60 minutes until approximately 6pm
New Year’s Eve - Tuesday, December 31
extended evening service on several routes. Free rides after 6 p.m.
New Year's Day - Wednesday, January 1
routes operating on a holiday service schedule, as noted on all route schedules.

Curbside waste collection changes:
There is no waste collection on Wednesday, December 25, 2019 or on Wednesday, January 1, 2020. For these two weeks only, Wednesday to Friday collection will be delayed by one day Thursday to Saturday.

Double garbage days: Double your limit of garbage bags or cans will be collected for two weeks, the weeks of December 23 and January 6 in Kitchener and the townships, and the weeks of December 30 and January 13 in Cambridge and Waterloo, on your regularly scheduled garbage collection day.
Special Christmas tree collection will be for two weeks, January 6 to 17, 2020, in all areas of the region, on your regular weekly waste collection day.
Residential drop-off: All waste sites will be closed for residential drop-off on Wednesday, December 25, Thursday, December 26, and Wednesday, January 1, 2020.
Regular hours of operations will resume on Thursday, January 2, 2020.
