What's open, what's closed and what's happening during the Easter long weekend?

Waterloo Region – Here is a list of Region of Waterloo service changes and special events for the Easter long weekend, Friday, March 30, 2018 and Monday April 2, 2018.

All Regional Administrative Offices (99 Regina – Waterloo, 150 Frederick – Kitchener,150 Main – Cambridge, Airport Administrative.) – Closed Friday, March 30, and Monday April 2, 2018.

Employment Resource Centres (99 Regina – Waterloo, 235 King – Kitchener, 150 Main – Cambridge) – Closed Friday, March 30, and Monday April 2, 2018.

Region of Waterloo call centre 519-575-4400 Open 24/7

Grand River Transit 
GRT will be operating on a Sunday service schedule on Friday, March 30 (Good Friday) and on Sunday, April 1 (Easter Sunday). 
Buses will be running on regular weekday service on Monday, April 2 (Easter Monday), except for high school specials which are cancelled.

GRT Terminal hours for Good Friday are:

Charles terminal: Ticket sales: 8:15 a.m. - 6:30 p.m., Building: 7:45 a.m. - 1:00 a.m.

Ainslie terminal: Ticket sales: 10 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. (closed 1:30 - 2:30 p.m.) Building: 7:30 a.m. - 12:00 a.m.

GRT Terminal hours for Easter Monday are:

Charles terminal: Ticket sales: 7:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m., Building: 5:30 a.m. - 1:10 a.m.

Ainlsie terminal: Ticket sales: 10 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., Building: 5:15 a.m. – 12:45 a.m.

Region of Waterloo International Airport – will not be affected. 

Waste/recycling/green bin pick up will not be affected. 

Regular curbside collection on Friday, March 30 and Monday, April 2. The Cambridge and Waterloo Waste Management sites will be closed Friday, March 30 and Monday, April 2.

Regional Children’s Centres and Home Child Care, Administration offices Closed Friday, March 30 and Monday April 2.

Sunnyside Home Reception – Closed Friday March 30, Open Monday April 2
Fabulous Finds Gift Shop and Sunnyside Tuck Shop – Closed Friday, March 30, Open Monday April 2

Community Alzheimer day programs – Closed Friday, March 30 and Monday, April 2 but overnight stay is open

Region of Waterloo Library - All branches are closed Friday, March 30, 
Open regular hours on Saturday, March 31 
Branches will be closed as per normal operating hours on Monday, April 2. 

Waterloo Region Museum
Open Daily - Regular museums hours
The museum is open on Friday, March 30, Saturday, March 31 and Monday, April 2 from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and on Sunday, April 1 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Wild Weather exhibit Immerses visitors of all ages in the science of severe weather.
Easter Weekend Fun - April 14 to 17
Monday and Friday: 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday and Sunday: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. 
Let the kids take part in daily activities and games, including stories and much more.
Easter Sunrise Service - April 1, 7 a.m. Be part of the 54th Annual Easter Sunrise Service at our historic Freeport Church. Light refreshments and voluntary collection following the service.

Joseph Schneider Haus 
Open Friday, March 30, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday to Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday 1 to 5 p.m. 
Keepsakes Ojibway Quillwork exhibit.
Easter Egg Hunt– Saturday, March 31, 10 a.m. start (Schneider Haus is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.) $2 admission. 
Meet the Easter Bunny and bring along a small basket to collect eggs!

McDougall Cottage Open Wednesday to Sunday, noon to 5 p.m. 
Egg Dyeing, Rolling and Hunt Saturday March 31 and Sunday, April 1, 1 to 4 p.m.
