Waterloo Region – Here’s a list of Region of Waterloo service changes for the Canada Day holiday. This year Canada Day falls on Wednesday, July 1, 2020. 

What’s open or on a special schedule?

Region of Waterloo Customer Service line - 519-575-4400 (available 24/7)

Grand River Transit will be operating on a Sunday schedule for Canada Day.

GRT Customer Service Centre location hours:

  • 105 King St. E., Kitchener | 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • 35 Ainslie St. S., Cambridge | 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

The GRT Operations Centre at 250 Strasburg Rd., Kitchener remains closed to the public.

GRT Customer Service – 24/7 at 519-585-7555

Region of Waterloo International Airport – Open - Will not be affected. 

Garbage, blue box, green bin, yard waste and bulky items:   
There is regular curbside collection on Wednesday, July 1, please have items out by
7 a.m. 
   
Cambridge and Waterloo waste sites are closed for residential drop-off on Wednesday, July 1.

 What’s Closed:

All Regional Administrative Offices (99 Regina – Waterloo, 150 Frederick – Kitchener, 150 Main – Cambridge, Airport Administrative offices) – Closed Wednesday July 1. 

Ken Seiling Waterloo Region MuseumSchneider Haus National Historic Site, and McDougall Cottage Historic Site are all closed on Wednesday, July 1:

Cambridge and Waterloo waste sites are closed for residential drop-off on Wednesday, July 1. 

Welcome Spaces (99 Regina, 150 Main, and 235 King) – Closure continues due to COVID-19.

Sunnyside Home Reception and Administration – Closed Wednesday, July 1 – Sunnyside Home remains closed to non-essential visitors and the public until further notice.

Sunnyside Wellness Centre – Closed Wednesday July 1  – Remains closed for all services with the exception of Physiotherapy appointments.

Community Alzheimer Day Program – Kitchener, Waterloo & Cambridge and Overnight Stay – Remains Closed until further notice
