“What’s your why?” campaign launches today in Waterloo Region
Waterloo Region – Today marks the launch of a “What’s your why?” campaign in Waterloo Region and the beginning of a community-wide conversation on the reasons people have for getting the COVID-19 vaccine. Participating in this campaign are a number of local residents who will each share a personal story about the reason they were vaccinated.
A social media kick-off event is planned for Thursday, June 17 at which time all members of the public are invited to follow the Region of Waterloo on Facebook and Twitter where the personal stories of local residents will be shared. Anyone can participate by posting a photo and answering the question “What’s your why?” on their own social media account.
There is a common thread in the stories we’ll be sharing. Each person hopes that we will soon be able to return to the activities we enjoy. Currently, about 70 per cent of the residents in Waterloo Region have had at least one dose of the vaccine. As many people as possible need to get the two-dose series of the vaccine to stop COVID-19 from spreading.
During the course of the campaign, more information will be available for individuals who have questions and concerns about the vaccines.
COVID-19 vaccines are free and people do not require an Ontario health card to be immunized. Members of the public who are 12+ are strongly encouraged to protect themselves and those they love by pre-registering for the vaccine right away: COVID-19 Vaccination Pre-registration.
