What’s Open, What’s Closed, What’s happening this Easter long weekend? (1)

Waterloo Region – Here is a list of Region of Waterloo service changes and special events for the Easter long weekend, Friday, April 3, 2015 and Monday April 6, 2015.

All Regional Administrative Offices (99 Regina – Waterloo, 150 Frederick – Kitchener, 150 Main – Cambridge, Airport Administrative.) – Closed Friday, April 3, 2015 and Monday April 6, 2015.

Grand River Transit 
GRT bus routes will be operating on a Sunday service schedule on Friday, April 3 (Good Friday) and on Sunday, April 6 (Easter Sunday). 
Buses will be running on regular weekday service on Monday, April 6 (Easter Monday), except for high school specials which are cancelled. 
GRT Terminal hours of operation will not be affected.
GRT customer service – Hours of operation 7:30 a.m. – 8:30 p.m. will not be affected.

Region of Waterloo International Airport – will not be affected. 


Waste/recycling/green bin pick up will not be affected. 
Cambridge, Waterloo waste and all rural waste transfer stations will be closed Friday, April 3 and Monday April 6.

Regional Children’s Centres and Home Child Care, Administration offices – Closed Friday, April 3 and Monday April 6

Sunnyside Home Reception – Closed Friday, April 3, Open Monday April 6
Fabulous Finds Gift Shop – Closed Friday, April 3, Open Monday April 6
Sand hills Café - Open

All Regional Libraries 

All branches are closed Friday, April 3, 
Open regular hours on Saturday, April 4. 
Branches will be closed as per normal operating hours on Monday, April 6. 

Waterloo Region Museum – Open Daily - Regular Museums hours
The museum is open on Friday, April 3, Saturday, April 4 and Monday, April 6 from 9:30 a.m. to 
5 p.m.; and on Sunday, April 5 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Ongoing crafts and activities on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.

Easter Sunrise Service - April 5, 7 a.m.

The 50th annual Easter Sunrise Service at the historic Freeport United Brethren Church in Doon Heritage Village.

Joseph Schneider Haus – 

Friday, April 3 Open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. 
Saturday, April 4 - Annual Easter Egg Hunt from 10 a.m. Sharp to 11 a.m. (The historic house will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.) 
Sunday, April 5, Open, 1 to 5 p.m.

Easter Eggstravaganza! - April 3 - 5

Sample some traditional Easter cheese and help the Schneiders scratch decorate Pennsylvania-German designs onto naturally dyed Easter Eggs.

Easter Egg Hunt - April 4, 10 a.m. start

Meet the Easter Bunny and bring along a small basket to collect eggs!

Maundy Thursday Ceilidh – April 2, 7 to 9 p.m.

McDougall’s 2015 Musician-in-Residence, fiddler Dave Neigh is this month’s host for a casual evening concert and Scottish hospitality. Admission by donation to the Cambridge Self Help Food Bank.

Homemade Hot Cross Buns – April 3, 1 to 4 p.m.

We’ll be showing how to make the traditional Scottish Easter treat – Hot Cross Buns! Stop by for a sample and the recipe. They’ll be crafts too! Admission by cash donation.

Traditional Egg Dyeing and Rolling – April 4 and 5, 1 to 4 p.m.

See how it was done in the good ‘ol days and try your hand at traditional egg dyeing and rolling fun. Easter treats for all kids who stop by. By donation.
