What’s Open, What’s Closed, What’s happening this Easter long weekend?

Waterloo Region – Here is a list of Region of Waterloo service changes and special events for the Easter long weekend, Friday, April 14, 2017 and Monday April 17, 2017.

All Regional Administrative Offices (99 Regina – Waterloo, 150 Frederick – Kitchener, 150 Main – Cambridge, Airport Administrative.) – Closed Friday, April 14,  and Monday April 17, 2017.

Grand River Transit 
GRT will be operating on a Sunday service schedule on Friday, April 14 (Good Friday) and on Sunday, April 16 (Easter Sunday). 
Buses will be running on regular weekday service on Monday, April 17 (Easter Monday), except for high school specials which are cancelled. 

GRT Terminal hours
 for Good Friday are:

Charles terminal: Ticket sales: 8:15 a.m. - 6:30 p.m., Building: 7:45 a.m. - 1:00 a.m.

Ainslie terminal: Ticket sales: 10 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. (closed 1:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.) Building: 7:30 a.m. - 12:00 a.m.

GRT Terminal hours are not impacted on Monday, April 17.

Region of Waterloo International Airport – will not be affected. 

Waste/recycling/green bin pick up will not be affected. Read more detail information .

Regular curbside collection on Friday, April 14 and Monday, April 17.   The Cambridge and Waterloo Waste Management sites will be closed Friday, April 14 and Monday, April 17.

Regional Children’s Centres and Home Child Care, Administration offices Closed Friday, April 14 and Monday April 17.

All Regional Libraries 

All branches are closed Friday, April 14, 
Open regular hours on Saturday, April 15 
Branches will be closed as per normal operating hours on Monday, April 17. 

Waterloo Region Museum – Open Daily - Regular Museums hours
The museum is open on Friday, April 14, Saturday, April 15 and Monday, April 17 from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and on Sunday, April 16 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

On Exhibit: Tyrannosaurs: Meet the Family - Closes April 30! First time in North America.

Easter Fun - April 14 to 17
Monday and Friday: 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday and Sunday: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Let the kids take part in daily activities and games, including stories and much more.

Easter Sunrise Service  - April 16, 7 a.m. Be part of the 53rd Annual Easter Sunrise Service at our historic Freeport Church. Light refreshments and voluntary collection following the service.

Joseph Schneider Haus - Open Friday, April 14, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday to Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday 1 to 5 p.m. 
On Exhibit: From Across Canada - Closes April 23. Celebrating the diverse craftsmanship of Canada featuring pieces representing the best of Canadian folk art.

Easter Eggstravaganza! – April 14 to 16, Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday 1 to 5 p.m.

Sample some traditional Easter cheese and help the Schneiders scratch decorate Pennsylvania-German designs onto naturally dyed Easter Eggs.

Easter Egg Hunt – April 15, 10 a.m. start (The historic house will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.) Suggested $2 admission. 
Meet the Easter Bunny and bring along a small basket to collect eggs!

McDougall Cottage 

Open Wednesday to Sunday, noon to 5 p.m. 

On Exhibit: Wee Quilt Challenge Exhibit: "The Tartan Trail – What the Scots Gave Canada - Opens April 14. As we celebrate Canada's 150th, we take a look at all the Scots have contributed to this beautiful country.

Hot-Crossed Bun Making Demonstration – April 14, Drop-in 1 to 4 p.m. 
Let’s make traditional Scottish Easter treat – Hot-Cross Buns! Stop by for a sample and the recipe. Admission by donation. 

Egg Dyeing and Rolling – April 15 to 16, Drop-in 1 to 4 p.m. 
Try your hand at traditional egg dyeing and rolling fun. Easter treats for kids. By donation.
