Waterloo Region – Here’s a list of Region of Waterloo service changes for the Canada Day long weekend.

What’s open/not affected:


Regional of Waterloo Customer Service line Open 24/7-  519-575-4400

Grand River Transit will be operating on a Sunday Schedule on Saturday, July 1, except for Route 21 Elmira.
Route 21 will be operating on a modified Saturday schedule on July 1 to provide service to the St. Jacobs Farmer's Market.

Monday, July 3: Regular service resumes on all GRT routes.


Plan ahead and pick up a Holiday Family Pass at either the Charles or Ainslie transit terminals.


Charles Street Terminal: 

July 1: Open - building hours: 7:45 a.m. – 1:00 a.m. Ticket sales 8:15 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.

July 3: Open - building hours: 5:15 a.m. – 1:00 a.m. Ticket sales 6:15 am - 7:30 pm.

Ainslie Street Terminal 

July 1: Open - building hours: 7:30 a.m. – 12:00 a.m. Ticket sales 10 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. (Closed 1:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.) 

July 3: Open - building hours:  5:15 a.m. - 12:45 a.m. Ticket sales 6:50 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.

Waterloo Region Museum/ Doon Heritage Village – Canada Day -150th Birthday Party!

Saturday, July 1 - 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Party like it's 1867! Waterloo Region Museum is throwing a party to celebrate Canada Day to celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday and everyone is welcome to attend. Admission is FREE to the museum and the living history village.

 Monday, July 3, 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. A Day In The Life... 1914, 11 a.m. - 4 p.m., Lend a hand on the farm, join a social pastime, or learn something new from our interpreter presentations.


Joseph Schneider Haus – Canada Day Weekend - Saturday, July 1 - 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Special guests and hands-on activities all weekend long. Take the Schneider Challenge and complete a series of tasks that include using a cross cut saw, writing with a quill pen, and making a remedy. Free admission on July 1. Celebrate Canada Day with cake at 2 p.m.

Open Monday, July 3, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Laundry and Hygiene, See how the Schneiders made soap, did the washing, mending, ironing, and cleaning without modern appliances and products.

McDougall Cottage  Canada Day - Saturday, July 1- 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Join us at the Cottage as we celebrate our Scottish-Canadian heritage with crafts, tours, treats and more!
Musical group The Fair Wind performs from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Admission is by cash donation.

Closed Monday July 3rd.

Region of Waterloo International Airport – Open - Will not be affected. 


Waste, recycling, green bin and yard waste  Cambridge and Waterloo waste sites will be closed to all customers, with no drop-off available on Saturday, July 1

No changes to curbside waste collection  on Monday, July 3, please have items out by 7 a.m. 
  
Cambridge and Waterloo waste sites will be open
for commercial and residential drop-off Monday, July 3.


What’s Closed:

All Regional Administrative Offices (99 Regina – Waterloo, 150 Frederick – Kitchener, 150 Main – Cambridge, Airport Administrative offices) – Closed Monday July 3rd.. 


All Region of Waterloo Library branches– Closed Saturday, July 1 and Monday, July 3rd.

Employment Resource Centres (99 Regina, 150 Main, and 235 King) – Closed Monday, July 3rd. 


Regional Daycare centres and Home Child Care offices – Closed Monday July 3rd.

Sunnyside Wellness Centre – Closed Monday, July 3rd.

Community Alzheimer Day Program – Kitchener & Cambridge – Closed Monday, July 3rd.

McDougall Cottage – Closed Monday, July 3rd.
