What’s Open and What’s Closed during the Christmas and New Year holidays?

Waterloo Region – Here is a list of Region of Waterloo service changes for the Christmas and New Year’s holidays:


All Regional Administrative Offices
 (99 Regina – Waterloo, 150 Frederick – Kitchener, 150 Main – Cambridge, Airport Administrative offices.) – Closed  Monday, December 26 and Tuesday, December 27, 2016 and Monday, January 2, 2017..


Grand River Transit

Grand River Transit buses will be running on weekday service with modifications to many routes from December 19, 2016 – January 2, 2017. Please check the Holiday Service page on www.grt.ca for details.


GRT Terminal hours
 – Please check the Holiday Service page on www.grt.ca  for Terminal Service Hours during the holidays.


Service first call centre
 – (519-575-4400) will not be affected.


Region of Waterloo International Airport  Open and will not be affected.


Waste/recycling/green bin

Curbside collection changes: There are no changes to the curbside collection schedules this year. Please have all waste items to the curb by 7 a.m. on your regular collection day.    


Special Christmas tree collection
 will occur from January 2, 2017 – January 13, 2017, on your regularly scheduled garbage collection day. 

 

Residential drop-off: All waste sites will be closed for residential drop-off on Monday, December 26 and Tuesday, December 27, 2016 and Monday, January 2, 2017.

Regular hours of operations will resume on Tuesday, January 3, 2017.

Regional Children’s Centres  
Closed as of December 26 and re-opening January 3. 

Home Child Care

Licensed Home Child Care Licensed Home Child Care operating as usual unless specified by your provider. Offices will be closed December 26, 27, 28, and January 2.

Open on December 24 and 31 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Closed December 25, 26 and January 1, 2017.

Closed for week of January 9 to 15, 2017.

Doon Heritage Village 

Closed for season December 24. 

Opens for the new season on May 1, 2017. 

Joseph Schneider Haus 

Closed for season December 25.

Opens for the new season on February 18, 2017.

McDougall Cottage 

Closed for season December 18.

Special opening on Family Day, February 20, 2017. 

Opens for the new season on March 2, 2017
