Wellesley vaccination clinic will wrap up on March 5
Waterloo Region – The Wellesley vaccination clinic, which first opened on March 15, 2021 and ramped up to administer more vaccines during the Omicron wave, will wrap up operations on Saturday, March 5. This regional vaccination clinic made it easier for residents living in Waterloo Region’s townships to access the COVID-19 vaccine.
“Dr. Jennifer Jones, Tracy Crowther and all of the Wellesley vaccination clinic staff and volunteers have done amazing work administering vaccines in our rural community,” said Joe Nowak, Mayor of Wellesley Township. “Their dedicated, caring and compassionate approach has been brought to my attention by many people who attended the clinic. On behalf of the residents of Wellesley Township, I would like to extend my deepest appreciation for an incredible effort and a job well done.”
The Centre for Family Medicine (Wellesley site) partnered with the Woolwich Community Health Centre and the Elmira Medical Family Health Organization to operate and staff the vaccination clinic at 3710 Nafziger Drive.
“The Wellesley vaccination clinic has been essential and critical to the success of the vaccine rollout,” said Vickie Murray, lead of Waterloo Region’s vaccine distribution rollout and Director of Pharmacy for Grand River Hospital and St. Mary’s General Hospital. “Thanks to the support of Dr. Jennifer Jones, Tracy Crowther and the entire team, we’ve been able to successfully bring vaccines to the townships and our rural communities. I am very grateful for their exceptional dedication to the health and safety of the communities they serve.”
The Wellesley vaccination clinic expanded their clinic operations to include bringing vaccines to older adults and priority populations in their own homes. Altogether, clinic staff have administered approximately 34,700 vaccines to residents.
“We feel honoured that we were able to open the doors of our small town clinic and be such a big part of the fight towards keeping our community safe,” said Dr. Jennifer Jones of the Centre for Family Medicine. “The staff and volunteers were an integral part of the success and we can’t thank them enough. It will be something we will all remember as a very positive and fun experience.”
The Wellesley vaccination clinic is open Tuesday and Thursday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. until March 5.
