Watermain Valve and Hydrant Replacements Near Franklin Blvd./Myers Rd., Cambridge

Please be advised that starting on Friday, July 20, 2018 there will be a series of operations taking place to replace existing watermain valves and hydrants near the intersection of Franklin Boulevard and Myers Road in Cambridge.  During these operations it will be necessary to isolate sections of the existing water supply system.

Water Service Interruptions

Two of the planned operations will result in a temporary water supply interruption at specific locations.  Residents and businesses that will be directly impacted by the water supply interruptions will receive a hand delivered notice from the Contractor advising of the planned shutdowns two days in advance.

The two operations that will interrupt water supply are currently planned during the day on Friday July 20, 2018 and Wednesday July 25, 2018 (weather dependent).  It is anticipated that affected properties will have their water supply restored by 5pm on the day of the shutdown.

Potential for Reduced Water Pressure and/or Discoloured Water

During the period between Friday July 20, 2018 and Tuesday July 31, 2018, in addition to the two tasks indicated above, additional operations will take place that will require periodic isolation of existing watermains.  These additional isolations will not interrupt water supply, but may temporarily result in reduced water pressure in some areas of Cambridge.

After each watermain isolation, when drinking water supply is restored in the distribution system, residents may notice discoloured water.  This may not be limited to properties directly affected by the shutdown.  Discoloured water may temporarily appear in any part of the linked watermain system in Cambridge.

It is recommended that residents observe the water before using it.  Discoloured water can stain laundry.  We recommend that you do not drink discoloured water.

Running the cold unsoftened water tap nearest to your supply for ten minutes usually will clear discoloured water.  If the problem persists, please wait for an hour and try again.

We apologize for any inconvenience caused. Should you require further information, please do not hesitate to contact the Region of Waterloo Service First Call Centre at 519-575-4400.
