Waterloo Region Museum receives Ontario Museum Association Honourable Mention for City On Edge exhibit
WATERLOO REGION – The Waterloo Region Museum received Honourable Mention for the City on Edge exhibit at the recent Ontario Museum Association annual conference in Kingston, Ontario. The City on Edge exhibit was created by the Waterloo Region Museum. The exhibit tells the story of how and why the city of Berlin changed its name to Kitchener on September 1, 1916, and was on exhibit in 2016, the 100th anniversary of the name change.
“This year, we once again celebrate the extraordinary accomplishments of museums and museum professionals across Ontario. The Awards of Excellence is our opportunity to recognize those institutions and individuals who exemplify their roles in the museum sector, reminding us of the impact museums have on their communities, and on Ontario as a province,” Marie G. Lalonde, Executive Director of the Ontario Museum Association.
The Ontario Museum Association is a not-for-profit member organization that builds capacity among institutions and individuals active in Ontario’s museum sector. Over the past year, ten million visitors to Ontario’s 600 community museums experienced programs and exhibitions which tell our collective story and contribute to our identity and sense of place.
