Waterloo Landfill Celebrates Earth Day with Public Tours (1)

Waterloo Region – To celebrate Earth Day, the Region of Waterloo is offering free public tours of the Waterloo landfill site on Saturday, April 23. Buses will be available to give residents a guided tour of the landfill operation and the Nyle Ludolph Materials Recycling Centre. Residents can take a closer look at garbage, green bin and recycling collection trucks, and landfill vehicles. Displays featuring the blue box, green bin and other waste diversion programs will also be available.

 

Bus tours will run on the hour and the half hour and are suitable for all ages.

When: Saturday, April 23, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

 

How: Call ahead to reserve your seat on the bus: 519-575-4400 or email: waste@regionofwaterloo.ca. If you require accessibility assistance to participate in the landfill tours, please let us know at time of booking.

 

Where: Waterloo Landfill Operations Centre, 1516 Glasgow Street, Kitchener, N2N 0A7.

 

Residents are encouraged to demonstrate their commitment to the environment around Earth Day. Take simple steps to ease the burden on the earth’s resources: recycle old cell phones, plan a waste-free lunch or donate gently used items.
