Waterloo Catholic District School Board Trustee Election resumes in Cambridge on November 7, 2022

Cambridge, Ontario. (November 4, 2022) – Starting Monday, November 7, voters may cast their ballot online for the Waterloo Catholic District School Board (WCDSB) Trustee election until November 18, 2022.

On October 22, 2022, the City Clerk declared an emergency pursuant to section 53 of the Municipal Election Act to suspend the Election for the WCDSB due to two of the six trustee candidates missing from the City of Cambridge ballot.

To ensure transparency and uphold the integrity of the voting process, the suspension of the election instructed the Township of North Dumfries to seal all results from their election for the Waterloo Catholic District School Board election and forward the secured results to the City of Cambridge. All results for the WCDSB from the City of Cambridge were voided on Monday, October 24, 2022.

Costs associated with the municipal election and the resumption of the WCDSB election are funded from the Election Reserve Fund. As with all elections, a summary update will be provided to Council in the coming months.

As the election resumes, voters that support the WCDSB will be able to cast their ballot via internet voting by visiting cambridge.ca/elections. WCDSB voters will receive a new voter letter providing instructions on how to vote. City staff will also be available in-person to assist with voter information and completing online voting at the following times and locations:

  • November 7 to 17: Cambridge City Hall during regular 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. business hours
  • November 18: Cambridge City Hall 8:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
  • Saturday, November 12: Cambridge Centre Mall – from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Voters without access to the internet may contact the City of Cambridge at 519-740-4680 ext. 4079 to learn more about how to qualify for at-home voting.

The City of Cambridge would like to thank the candidates and the School Board for their patience and support as we resume the WCDSB Trustee election.

On Friday, November 18, 2022, the results will be compiled for Cambridge and North Dumfries and released after the close of voting at 8 p.m. at: Cambridge.ca/elections.
