Water supply system restored – residents might see fluctuations in pressure
Waterloo Region – Region's Water Services have augmented the water supply system to restore water pressures in areas impacted by this morning’s water main break.
A large water main (600 mm) on Charles St. at Cameron St. was hit by a contractor this morning around 7:20 a.m. The water main break impacted large sections of the City of Kitchener and some areas in the City of Waterloo.
The contractor was working for a private development located on the block bounded by King St., Charles St., Cameron St. and Madison Ave.
The Region of Waterloo and City of Kitchener staff worked together to isolate the water main in the area of the break by 9 a.m.
Residents might experience fluctuations in water pressure and discolouration in water.
It is recommended residents observe the water before using it. Discoloured water can stain laundry. We recommend you do not drink discoloured water. Running the cold, unsoften water tap nearest to your supply for ten minutes usually will clear discoloured water. If the problem persists, please wait an hour and try again.
Further information will be provided as it comes available.
