Water Main break at Greenbook Pumping Station

Some time after 6:15 p.m. this evening  a water main on Greenbrook Avenue failed. Various areas of Kitchener experienced reduced water pressure as a result.

Regional and City of Kitchener staff responded to the water main failure and were able to isolate the break.  The water pressure is returning to normal in affected areas.

Repairs to the water main will take place over night. Some residents may exprience discoloured water due to pressure changes in the system.

If you experience discoloured water, running your cold, unsoftened water tap nearest to your supply for 10 minutes usually will clear the discoloured water.
