Waste collection cancelled due to unsafe road conditions

Waterloo Region – Effective immediately, garbage, blue box and green bin collection for the remainder of Friday, February 8, 2013 is cancelled due to bad weather and unsafe driving conditions.

Collection trucks will attempt to finish the Friday collection route on Saturday, February 9, if road conditions allow. Residents who have not had their streets collected today are asked to please bring items in from the curb overnight so as not to hamper plowing operations or have their containers buried. Trucks will attempt to resume collection at 7:00 a.m. on Saturday morning.

If road conditions on Saturday do not allow for collection, residents are asked to please bring items in from the curb and hold onto them until next week’s collection on Friday, February 15.

To assist with Saturday collection, residents are asked to:

• Ensure containers are not left out overnight Friday.

• Ensure containers are visible at the curb and free of accumulated snow (please watch for snow plows) by 7:00 a.m.

• Place containers at ground level, either at the end of the driveway, or on a shoveled ledge in the snow bank.

Residents in the Friday areas that have already been collected but have had materials missed in the storm are asked to please bring items in from the curb, and to hold on to them until next week’s collection on Friday, February 15. Trucks will not return to areas already visited.

The Region of Waterloo Waste Management Division apologizes for the inconvenience, and thanks all residents in the Friday collection areas for their patience and cooperation.
