Upcoming Film Project - October 29-November 1, 2018
The film industry continues to show their affection for Cambridge, with yet another project filming from October 29 through November 1, 2018 inclusive. Cambridge is well established as the home town setting for "The October Faction" and we are pleased to be welcoming them back for a fourth time this year! This project will be filming on both public and private property classes as specified below:
- Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV or Drone) and driving footage will be filmed on various city streets throughout the Galt and Hespeler areas of Cambridge on Wednesday, October 31st during the morning and afternoon and wrapping up before trick or treaters hit the streets. Drone footage will also be undertaken at: Centennial Park, Mountview Cemetery, Millrace Park and the lower river walk. Please note - this portion of the project was rescheduled from Saturday, October 24 due to anticipated inclement weather.
- Centennial Park, Mountview Cemetery and Spruce Street - Monday, October 29
- 5 Blenheim Road - Tuesday, October 30
- 50 Ainslie Street North - Wednesday, October 31
- 27 Water Street North and Mill Race Park (lower walk) - Thursday, November 1
Anticipated Impacts:
- 4 days of filming (October 29, 30, 31 and November 1)
- Drone footage scheduled for October 31 in the vicinity of the Grand River, Centennial Park and Mountview Cemetery. Filming is to be undertaken by a Transport Canada certified pilot. Signage to be posted in the areas during filming. Sensitive use areas (Mountview) will be filmed sparingly and respectfully.
- Intermittent stoppages to film motorcycle drive bys. Closures to be under 5 minutes and supervised by WRPS on October 27.
- Intermittent stoppages on Blenheim Rd (Metcalfe to Lansdowne) (October 30)
- Intermittent stoppages on Park Hill Road (November 1)
- Limited closure of Dickson Street (Canada Post to Water St) (November 1)

- Basecamp/crew parking: private lots and G1 Parkhill Road municipal lot (Oct 31-Nov 2)
- Ellacott Lookout (half lot) – Oct 31
- Spruce Street (McNaughton to Main)
- Grant Street (Kenmore to Blair)
- Lansdowne Rd N (Blenheim to Salisbury)
- Ainslie St N (Colborne to Thorne) – Oct 31
- Thorne St (Water to Ainslie - No Parking in front of 42 Ainslie St N) – Oct 31
- Market lot (14 spaces only) – Oct 31
- Water Street (Parkhill to Dickson) – Nov 1
- Water St Lot #1 (limited to 10 spaces) – Nov 1
- Dickson St Lot (limited to 6 spaces) – Oct 31
Staff from Waterloo Region Police Services will be on site to ensure public safety and supervise any intermittent closures. Intermittent closures will not occur between the hours of 7-9am and 3-6pm. Wherever possible, we have reduced the approved parking allotment to ensure adequate spaces remain for our loyal businesses and customers. As filming wraps in each location, parking and road closures will be released.
