Upcoming Film Project - November 27 & 28, 2018
Rounding out an incredibly busy month, the City of Cambridge will be welcoming a third film project to historic Downtown Cambridge! Rocket Woman will be filming scenes for their upcoming season in and around the Galt core area on Tuesday, November 27 and Wednesday, November 28, 2018. This project will be taking place on both public and private property classes as follows, and will involve a variety of special effects and situations that may be disturbing to some.
Locations:
- Queens Square
- Main Street Bridge and vicinity
- 46 Dickson Street
- 12 Blair Road
Anticipated Impacts:
- Set dressing to begin on November 26;
- Queens Square, Melville Street (North and South) and the Main Street Bridge will be closed to through traffic 7:00am through 2:00pm (November 27 and 28);
- Intermittent stoppages may occur on Dickson Street (November 27 - afternoon);
- Intermittent stoppages may occur on Grand Avenue between 9:00am and 2:00pm (November 27 and 28)
Parking:
- The Market Lot will be closed to the public on November 27, 2018;
- On-street parking will not be available on Dickson Street between Wellington and Ainslie Streets (October 27)
- Reduced parking on Cambridge Street (if options are necessary for your business or residence, please contact our office);
- Base camp and crew parking will be located at Galt Arena Gardens (north lot only) from 11pm November 26 through to the early hours of November 29.
- Civic Square (facing Dickson) will be utilized for any site necessary technical vehicles.
Special Advisories:
- Large structure will be erected within Queens Square;
- Drone Photography (Queens Square, November 28);
- Graphic depictions of human mortality during filming;
- Atmospheric smoke;
- Significant number of people on set (approximately 300-400);
- Grand Cafe in Queens Square will be closed to facilitate filming, starting around noon on Monday, November 26
The Queens Square set will be under 24 hour surveillance from November 26 until wrapout in the evening of November 28. This project will be closely monitored by paid duty officers from Waterloo Region Police Services who will be onsite to ensure public safety is maintained at all times during filming. The Cambridge Fire Department is also aware of this project and the special effects being proposed. This project will involve acts of simulated violence; it is not advisable to bring children to the area to watch the filming take place.

There is ample 2 hour parking located behind City Hall off Thorne Street, as well as in the numerous public lots scattered through the Galt core area.
