Upcoming Film Project - Monday, December 17, 2018

To finish off an incredibly busy year, the City of Cambridge will be welcoming one final film project to historic Downtown Cambridge!  “The October Faction” will be returning to film scenes for their upcoming season in and around the Galt core area on Monday, December 17, 2018. “The October Faction” revolves around Frederick Allan (a retired monster hunter), his family, and the dark secrets resurfacing from their past as they return home. This series is scheduled to air on Netflix in 2019.

This project will be taking place on both public and private property classes as follows, and may involve major traffic disruptions in the vicinity of Galt Arena Gardens on Shade Street.  Please note, arena access will be maintained from the south via Shade Street from Kerr Street.  We request residents and visitors do not attempt arena access via Shade Street from Dundas Street North.

Locations:

  • Galt Arena Gardens (98 Shade St and vicinity)
  • Lions’ Club (50 Ainslie Street North)
  • 80 Blenheim Road

Anticipated Impacts:

  • Base camp move in begins in the evening on Sunday, December 16;
  • Filming for one day in the vicinity of 98 Shade Street (Galt Arena Gardens), 50 Ainslie Street North (Lions’ Club) and 80 Blenheim Road;
  • Traffic stoppages, including temporary road closures, may occur in the vicinity of Galt Arena Gardens on Shade Street between Dundas and Kerr Streets. Local access will be maintained for residents and arena users via Shade Street from Kerr Street (off Beverly Street);
  • Intermittent stoppages may occur in the vicinity of 50 Ainslie Street North;
  • All traffic disruptions will be controlled by paid duty officers from Waterloo Region Police Services;
  • Intermittent stoppages must occur between the hours of 9:00am and 3:00pm, or after 6:00pm to avoid peak rush hour.

Parking:

  • Parking for base camp has been granted at Galt Arena in the south lot (40 spaces will remain in this lot for public use), with limited overflow parking being granted in the Beverly Street Lot;
  • Additional space for technical vehicles has been granted within the north portion of the Market Lot;
  • On-street parking has been granted on Ainslie St from Colborne to Thorne Streets;
  • On-street parking has been granted on Thorne St between Water and Ainslie Streets;
  • On-street parking on Grant St has been granted;
  • Move in or reservation of spaces must not occur prior to 4pm on Sunday, December 16;
  • One lane for emergency access must be maintained at all times, as public safety is a priority.

Special Advisories:

  • Extended traffic stoppages may occur on Shade Street between Dundas Street and Galt Arena during filming.  We request that arena users access Galt Arena (which will remain open and accessible) via Shade Street from Kerr Street (off Beverly Street).  Public parking will be available in the south lot only, in a delineated area of the parking lot closest to the arena entrance.
