Two people charged in Iris Street personal robbery

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Thursday, November 5, 2020   12:30pm 

(Ottawa) – Frontline Patrol Officers responded to a personal robbery in the area of Iris Street and Gateway Private late last night. 

At approximately 10:15 pm, two people approached a man who was walking. One of the suspects engaged the victim in a conversation. The second suspect put a knife to the victim’s throat and demanded his cell phone. Both suspects left the area with the victim’s cell phone. No one was injured. 

A successful K9 track led to the arrest of the two suspects nearby. 

The Ottawa Police Robbery Unit charged Ira O’HARA, 18 years old, of Ottawa and a 14 year old boy with:

  • Robbery with a weapon
  • Possession of a weapon for the purpose of committing an offence 

O’HARA is also charged with Fail to Comply with an Undertaking x2, Breach of a Release Order x3 and failure to Comply with a YCJA Sentence Order x2. 

Both are scheduled to appear in court today.
