Two home invasions under investigation in Blackburn Hamlet

(Ottawa) – The Ottawa Police Robbery Unit is appealing to the public for information regarding two violent home invasions that occurred in Blackburn Hamlet last week along the 2000-3000 block of Innes Rd.  

The first incident occurred on August 7, 2020 at 3:00AM.  Two men forced their way into an apartment through a locked door and confined the lone occupant for a period of time while the home was searched for valuables. The victim was shaken, but not physically injured. 

The second incident occurred approximately 1 kilometre away from the first, on August 10, 2020 at 1:00AM. Two men forced their way into the home through a locked door and forcibly confined both occupants for an extended period of time. One of the victims sustained minor injuries after being assaulted with a weapon. The residence was searched for valuables and the suspects made off with an undisclosed amount of property and cash. 

The first suspect is described as white man, 20-30 years old, slim build between 5’6” (168cm) – 5’8” (173cm) tall. 

The second suspect is described as white man, 20-30 years old, larger build, between 5’10” (179cm) and 6’ (183cm) tall. 

Both were dressed in black and were English-speaking. 

The Ottawa Police is asking residents in Blackburn Hamlet to be vigilant after dark and report any suspicious persons or vehicles to police by calling the non-emergency line at 613-236-1222, ext. 7300.
