TSSA Warns Consumers of Potential Phone Scam in Ontario

The Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) has recently been made aware that consumers in Ontario have received phone calls from someone allegedly representing a company called Carbon Safety Canada. The person asks to set up an appointment to inspect the carbon monoxide detector in the home or apartment.

If you receive a call of this nature, it could be a scam or a pretense to enter your home for other purposes such as selling you a product or service. TSSA is not aware of, nor has any affiliation with, a company called Carbon Safety Canada. If you suspect a scam, do not provide any personal information to the caller and report the call to Consumer Protection Ontario: https://www.ontario.ca/page/report-scam-or-fraud.
