TSSA Releases 2019 Annual State of Public Safety Report (ASPR)

TSSA Releases 2019 Annual State of Public Safety Report (ASPR)

The Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) is pleased to present the 2019 Edition of the Annual State of Public Safety Report (ASPR). The ASPR reports on safety data as collected by TSSA and estimates the level of risk that Ontarians are exposed to through TSSA-regulated technologies, devices, equipment and certified tradespeople. In doing so, it relates critical information about the documented state of safety in the places where Ontarians live, work and play.

Summary of key findings

  • The first fiscal year in at least 12 with no fatalities in TSSA-regulated areas
  • The severity of injuries decreased by nearly 50 percent since the last fiscal year
  • Total number of incidents and non-permanent injuries is increasing
  • Two areas of concern that were previously high risk improved and now meet safety acceptability standards
