Transition to Upgraded System Underway for Elevating & Amusement Devices, Ski Lifts
New IT business solution will improve customer experience and access to TSSA's services
Release 3 (R3) of the Operations Analytics Safety Innovation System (OASIS) project launches in March 2023. It will provide the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) with clean, reliable data in its Elevating and Amusement Devices and Ski Lifts (EDAD Ski) Safety Program.
Further advancing its transformation into an Outcome-Based Regulator, TSSA is implementing the third phase of its upgraded IT business solution (Microsoft Dynamics CRM) to modernize its services, provide better customer service, and improve safety in Ontario.
Following the successful integration of the Fuels and Boilers and Pressure Vessels Safety Programs into OASIS, the transition of the EDAD Ski Safety Program to the new system is now underway.
What Customers Can Expect
OASIS R3 will improve core functions, enhance data quality and make it easier for EDAD Ski customers to access TSSA’s services and meet their safety responsibilities. The following outlines some of the new processes associated with the system:
As an Outcome-Based Regulator, TSSA takes a risk-informed approach to safety oversight, using data to understand risk, shape the safety oversight framework, and develop programs to better target risk and harm reduction and enable compliance.
Having the OASIS IT infrastructure in place is critical for TSSA to become an Outcome-Based Regulator, as many TSSA safety initiatives depend on clean, reliable data that the organization uses to make evidence-informed, risk-based decisions. It will also put the foundation in place for future releases with customer self-service options.
TSSA is committed to assisting regulated parties in achieving compliance with safety laws through education, problem solving, partnerships and advanced customer service tools.

What Customers Can Expect
OASIS R3 will improve core functions, enhance data quality and make it easier for EDAD Ski customers to access TSSA’s services and meet their safety responsibilities. The following outlines some of the new processes associated with the system:
- Centralized Inspection Scheduling
Centralized inspection scheduling improves the customer experience and responds to customers’ need for flexibility and responsiveness by providing one point of contact for scheduling inspections.
- Enhanced Authorizations
Reinforcing TSSA’s Lapsed Authorizations Policy, the new system is designed to identify customers with lapsed authorizations and send notifications to make sure customers are operating with valid authorizations (e.g. licences and registrations).
- Compliance Standards
Compliance Standards for elevators, escalators and ski lifts will launch in tandem with OASIS R3. Compliance Standards — a list that identifies high-risk non-compliances — help device owners and operators better understand their safety priorities and identify items that may pose a high risk to public safety if not addressed. TSSA will conduct follow-up inspections on high-risk orders found during a periodic inspection.
