Top 3 Things You Need to Know About Completing your Mandatory Liquid Fuels Upgrade Training
Earlier this month we shared news with you about the new, one-time liquid fuels certificate upgrade training. Thank you to everyone for their feedback around the training and as a follow-up to your questions, here are the top three things you (as a liquid fuels certificate holder) need to know about the upgrade training:
Number 1 - How do you register for the upgrade training?
To register, visit TSSA’s Accredited Training Provider Directory and follow these steps:
1. Click on ‘Search by Category’
2. Scroll down to ‘Petroleum Mechanic Upgrade’ and select
3. Select ‘Search’ and select an accredited training provider to contact about course registration, availability, etc. The accredited training providers for this are:
OPCA - Ontario Petroleum Contractor Association - www.opcaonline.org
TS Technical College - www.tstraining.com
Fuel Safety Online Inc. - www.fuelssafety.ca
Fuels Safety Consultants (in class) - www.fuelssafety.ca
(It is important to note that TSSA does not conduct training, and certificate holders must contact accredited training providers for course timing, location, cost, etc.)
Please note that the training is available both in class and online and lasts approximately eight hours.
Number 2 - Does the training expire?
No. The upgrade training does not expire and is a one-time training; however, it only applies to the renewal of a Petroleum Mechanic and/or Site Operator certificate from April 1, 2018 through March 21, 2020.
Number 3 - Does this apply to me?
The upgrade training requirement applies to all Petroleum Mechanics and Site Operators who held a certificate when the requirement and adopted Liquid Fuels Handling Code came into force on October 1, 2017
We hope this makes things easier for you as you register for your training. If you have questions please do not hesitate to contact TSSA Certification and Examination services at certandexams@tssa.org.
