Tony La Mantia appointed President and CEO of Waterloo Region Economic Development Corporation
Waterloo Region – The Waterloo Region Economic Development Corporation (WREDC) Board of Directors has appointed Tony La Mantia as Chief Executive Officer.
Mr. La Mantia joins WREDC from the Ontario Ministry of Economic Development, Employment and Infrastructure, where he is the Assistant Deputy Minister, Investment & Industry Division. His career spans more than 25 years in the private and public sectors, during which time he has played transformational leadership roles in technology sales and market development, corporate and institutional investor relations, investment attraction and international marketing. He is a proud alumnus of the University of Waterloo co-op program and will authentically convey the Region’s strong value proposition.
“I am confident that Mr. La Mantia will provide strong leadership to the WREDC,” said Gerry Remers, Chair, Waterloo Region Economic Development Corporation. “His diverse experience and abilities will allow him to build the Corporation, attract investment and talent, support growth sectors, and align municipal economic development activities.”
Tony will officially assume the position on January 4, 2016.

The WREDC is an independent, not-for-profit organization, funded primarily by the Region of Waterloo and seven Area Municipalities. It will foster, support and help deliver a coordinated and integrated approach to economic development in Waterloo Region. Together with the Board, the Region, constituent municipalities and the community, the new Chief Executive Officer will realize Waterloo Region’s vision as locally rooted, internationally competitive and globally renowned.
