Tickets now available for Cambridge Mayor’s Night at the Movies fundraiser, Sept 26

Cambridge, Ontario.  August 15, 2016… Pass the popcorn!  The City of Cambridge and Drayton Entertainment are inviting theatregoers to experience a blockbuster of different sorts.  The Dunfield Theatre Cambridge is the proud beneficiary of this year’s Mayor’s Night at the Movies, a signature initiative by the City of Cambridge to support the vital work of charitable organizations servicing the community.

The popular annual event will be held on Monday, Sept 26 at the Galaxy Cinemas, Cambridge Centre, 355 Hespeler Rd., Cambridge.

The roster of six films has been selected by Mayor Doug Craig, Mayor of Cambridge, and Alex Mustakas, Artistic Director of Drayton Entertainment, and includes:

  • Eddie The Eagle,
  • The Intern,
  • Life of Pi,
  • The Martian,
  • The Revenant, and
  • Steve Jobs

“This is our 15th year for the event,” says Mayor Craig. “It’s a great night out and a great way to support an organization that has made an incredible contribution to our community at the same time.”

Previous beneficiaries have included the Family Counselling Centre of Cambridge & North Dumfries, Preston Scout House Band, Kids Can Play Association of Cambridge, and Cambridge Self-Help Food Bank.

“We are proud to operate in a community that recognizes and appreciates the role of the arts in contributing to a healthy, well-balanced, prosperous city,” says Mustakas.

The event starts at 6:30 p.m.  Tickets are $25 per person and include movie, refreshments, hors d’oeuvres, and the chance to win some great door prices.

A limited supply of tickets is available through the Drayton Entertainment Box Office at (519) 621-8000 or online at www.draytonentertainment.com.

The majority of tickets are available for purchase in person at the five local branches of Scotiabank in Cambridge. As part of a unique partnership, tickets purchased through any Cambridge branch location will be matched dollar for dollar by Scotiabank, essentially doubling support for this fundraiser.

All event proceeds will be directed to the not-for-profit theatre’s various charitable programs, including the pilot Youth Musical Theatre Program, which was launched to great acclaim earlier this summer.  Three sold-out sessions were offered to over 100 participants between the ages of 9 and 16.
