The Boardwalk vaccination clinic set to close on June 12
Waterloo Region – The COVID-19 vaccination clinic at Medical Centre 2, 435 The Boardwalk in Waterloo is set to close on Sunday, June 12 after almost 16 months of operation. One of the two largest vaccination clinics in Waterloo Region, The Boardwalk has been a popular destination for individuals to get their first and subsequent doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.
At this time, a large capacity vaccination clinic is no longer needed in the community. Waterloo Region’s largest vaccination clinic, Cambridge Pinebush, closed at the end of March.
“Today, there are many more opportunities to get a COVID-19 vaccine in Waterloo Region than when The Boardwalk vaccination clinic opened and began administering a limited supply of first doses to adults 80 years of age and older,” said David Aoki, Director, Infectious Diseases, Region of Waterloo Public Health and Emergency Services. “We are tremendously grateful to approximately 680 staff and 700 volunteers who administered over 240,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine and made sure people had a positive experience at The Boardwalk.”
Public Health will continue to find opportunities to reduce barriers to accessing COVID-19 vaccines through targeted community clinics and the mobile vaccination bus. Vaccines are also available at many pharmacies and doctors’ offices. For up-to-date information about where to get a vaccine, visit the Region of Waterloo website: regionofwaterloo.ca/getavaccine
