Soccer Complex Grand Opening Celebration takes to the pitch June 15
Cambridge, Ontario. (June 4, 2024) – The City of Cambridge, with generous support from Conestoga College and Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada (TMMC), is excited to welcome the community to the Official Grand Opening of the new Soccer Complex Saturday, June 15, 2024.
“This is a momentous occasion for our community as we proudly open the doors to our state-of-the-art soccer complex,” said Mayor Jan Liggett. “This facility is more than just a place to play; it’s a hub for community engagement, youth development, and a testament to our commitment to fostering a healthy, active lifestyle for all residents. We look forward to seeing countless memorable moments and future stars emerge from this field.”

Soccer Complex Grand Opening
Saturday, June 15 | 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Free Admission
880 Linden Drive, Cambridge (corner of Linden Dr. and Fountain St.)
A fun-filled day of free activities kicks off with remarks and a ribbon cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. The event will be emceed by Sarge from Bounce Radio 99.5.
Bring a blanket or lawn chair and enjoy entertainment by Shy Harry beginning at 10:30 a.m. with an Exhibition Game starting at 11 a.m. featuring current and former Conestoga Condor athletes from both the men and women teams.
The whole family will have fun taking part in soccer skills and drills, there will be an inflatable obstacle course for the kids, face painting, and the Idea Exchange, Queen’s Square will host a variety of activities, games and crafts.
Some special local mascots will also make an appearance including Cliffy from Conestoga College, Hawkey from the Cambridge Red Hawks, Leo the Lion from RBC, Parker from Waterloo Regional Police Services, and the City’s very own Willy Melt, Sparky, and Beeper. They will take to the field in the afternoon to show off their soccer skills in a friendly competition, and there will be a draw for a Conestoga Condors Soccer Jersey to end the day.
A variety of local sports organizations will be there to share more about the programs they offer. A full list is on the City website.
For those looking for a sweet treat, snack or lunch - Ish and Chips, Heavenly Dreams Ice Cream and Krankie Frankie’s Hub Grub will be available for purchase.
Parking at the event is limited. Please consider other transportation options like walking, biking, and taking Grand River Transit.
The Cambridge Soccer Complex is a key step towards the objective in the City’s Strategic Plan – Cambridge Connected, to support individual and community wellbeing by creating and activating places that offer things to do.
