Snowstorm waste collection delays in tri-cities, townships

Waterloo Region – Garbage, green bin and recycling collection for some residents in the Thursday collection areas of the tri-cities and townships will be delayed due to the weather.  While drivers continue to do their best to safely collect despite reduced visibility and snowy roads, crews will not likely be able to complete today’s collection.

Crews picking up garbage, green bin and recycling will attempt to collect as much as possible from the Thursday areas. However, it is expected that some streets will remain uncollected.  Residents are asked to please ensure uncollected items are at the curb no later than 7:00 a.m. for collection on Friday, as crews will start early.

All residents are reminded that snowbanks are a challenge for collection crews, and that in order to be collected, containers must be easily visible, free of snow, and accessible from the street (not on top of or behind snowbanks).

Trucks will return to finish collection in the Thursday areas on Friday.  If waste remains uncollected after Friday, residents are asked to please notify the Region’s customer service group at 519-575-4400. We apologize for any inconvenience, and thank residents in advance for their cooperation and understanding.  Friday collection is expected to proceed as usual.
