Snowbanks and waste collection
Waterloo Region – Winter has arrived and collection crews are experiencing difficultly collecting containers from the top of snowbanks, or containers placed on sidewalks out of view from the drivers. With thousands of collections to make each day, crews cannot safely climb snowbanks to collect the garbage, blue box and green bin containers.
Please ensure collection by making your waste containers visible and accessible:
- Place waste containers at the edge of your driveway, or dig a ledge in the snowbank at street level to place containers.
- Brush snow from containers for maximum visibility.
- Avoid using white garbage bags in the winter months.
