Service changes for Remembrance Day

Waterloo Region – Here is the list of Region of Waterloo service changes for Remembrance Day on Friday, November 11.

What’s open: 

  • Regional of Waterloo Customer Service line open 24/7 at 519-575-4400
  • Grand River Transit (GRT) will operate on a regular schedule, however bus and train service will pause for two minutes at 11 a.m. to mark Remembrance Day.
    • There will be no ION light rail service between Grand River Hospital and Mill Stations from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., to accommodate the ceremony at the Kitchener cenotaph. Shuttle buses will be running and customers should board at 301R ION replacement stops.
    • The following bus routes will also be on detour during Remembrance Day ceremonies: 1, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 16, 20, 55, 57, 77, and 204. For more information, visit www.grt.ca/nov11.

What’s closed:

  • Cambridge and Waterloo waste sites will be closed for residential drop-off
  • All Regional administrative offices (99 Regina in Waterloo, 150 Frederick in Kitchener, 150 Main in Cambridge, airport administrative offices)
  • Home Child Care offices. For urgent issues, call 519-575-4400 and ask for Home Child Care
  • Sunnyside Home reception and administration will be closed, but visitors and caregivers are welcome
  • Sunnyside Wellness Centre open from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. for physiotherapy and foot care services by appointment.
  • Community Alzheimer Day programsKitchener, Waterloo and Cambridge day programs will be closed. Overnight stay respite remains open.
