Rural transfer stations open every second Saturday until March 2015

Waterloo Region – Starting May 24, 2014, all four rural transfer stations will operate on a rotating schedule of every second Saturday, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m., until the end of March 2015.

Since 2009, Township residents have received an expanded level of curbside collection and there has been a reduced amount of waste handled at the rural transfer stations. Regional Council this week approved that all four rural transfer stations will remain open every other Saturday until the end of March 2015.  All rural transfer stations will be permanently closed as of March 31, 2015.

The new alternating Saturday schedule will begin on Saturday, May 24, 2014 with the North Dumfries and Woolwich transfer stations open on this date.  On the following Saturday, May 31, 2014, the Wellesley and Wilmot transfer stations will be open.  Hours of operation on all alternating Saturdays will be 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.  The new rural transfer stations schedule is attached, and a printable version is also available on the Region’s website at www.regionofwaterloo.ca/waste.

For the next two weeks until the new alternating Saturday schedule starts, the rural transfer stations will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the following days:
