Relocated EarlyON in Cambridge provides more space for families

Waterloo Region – Today marks the grand opening of a newly relocated Cambridge EarlyON centre that offers expanded drop-in programs for children and families.

The EarlyON Child and Family Centre, operated by Cambridge Family Early Years, recently moved to 73 Water Street to better meet the needs of children and families. The new location offers more space, parking and a secure location.

“We have been very excited about the opening of this location,” said Jaime Jacomen, VP & Leader of Y Operational Excellence, of the YMCA. “The warmth of the natural light and new materials to explore welcomes you as you enter the centre and fosters an inclusive, safe space for children and families to connect and learn together.”

EarlyON Child and Family Centres offer free drop-in programs for children up to six years of age and their parents or caregivers. Programs and services encourage exploration and play-based learning. Parents can also find information on child growth and development and get referrals to programs and services in the community.

“I am pleased that parents, caregivers and families in Cambridge will have improved access to expanded programming to help them in caring for their young children,” said Regional Chair Karen Redman. “I would like to thank the YMCA of Cambridge and Kitchener-Waterloo for their leadership role in responding to community needs and to our Provincial funding partner for making this relocation possible.”

EarlyON Child and Family Centres are funded by the Ontario Ministry of Education and the relocation of the Cambridge centre was made possible through the Community-Based Early Years and Child Care Capital Program that is funded through the Canada-Ontario Early Learning and Child Care Agreement.

The YMCAs of Cambridge & Kitchener-Waterloo lead programming for the centres in Waterloo Region with oversight from the Region of Waterloo. The YMCA directly operates some EarlyONs and contracts the operation of others to local agencies.
