Regional service changes for the holidays (1)
Waterloo Region – Here is a list of Region of Waterloo service changes for the Christmas and New Years’ holidays.
Regional Administrative Offices (Waterloo, Kitchener, Cambridge, and airport administrative offices) will be closed Monday, December 25, Tuesday, December 26 and Monday, January 1.
Welcome Spaces will be closed December 25, 26 and January 1.
Home child care is operating as specified by your provider. Offices will be closed December 25, 26 and January 1. For urgent issues, call 519-575-4400 and ask for Home Child Care.
Warming centres at 150 Main (Cambridge) and 150 Frederick (Kitchener) will be open seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., including Saturday, Sundays, and holidays.
Grand River Transit will operate winter holiday service December 25 to January 7. GRT Customer Service Centres are closing early on December 24 and are closed December 25, December 26 and January 1. Check the GRT website for full details. All MobilityPLUS subscription trips are automatically cancelled on statutory holidays. Trips can be rebooked by calling 519-744-2241 seven days in advance.
Curbside waste: There will be no curbside waste collection on Monday, December 25, 2023 and Monday, January 1, 2024. During these two weeks, your collection day moves by one day:
- Monday collected on Tuesday
- Tuesday collected on Wednesday
- Wednesday collected on Thursday
- Thursday collected on Friday
- Friday collected on Saturday
For two weeks after Christmas Day, we collect natural Christmas trees (which we chip into mulch).
Cambridge and Waterloo transfer stations will be closed for residential access on December 25, 26 and January 1.
Region of Waterloo Library holiday hours:
December 24: Branches open regular hours.
December 25-26: All Branches closed.
December 27-31: Branches open regular hours.
January 1: All Branches closed.
Seniors’ Services administration will be closed December 25, 26 and January 1.
Sunnyside Wellness Centrewill be closed December 25, 26 and January 1.
Community Alzheimer Day and Dinner programs and Young Onset Dementia Association will be closed from December 24 to January 1.
Seniors’ Services Overnight Stay Program will be closed from December 24 to January 1.
Schneider Haus will be closed December 24 to 26 and January 1.
Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum will be closed December 24 to 26 and January 1.
McDougall Cottage Historic Site is closed for the season and will re-open on Family Day.
Public Health clinics, including by-appointment vaccine clinics, are closed on December 25, 26 and January 1.
