Regional Service Changes for the Family Day long weekend

Waterloo Region – Here’s a list of Region of Waterloo service changes for the Family Day holiday - Monday, February 15, 2021.

PLEASE NOTE: The Region of Waterloo continues to operate under the Provincial,  Ontario-wide Shutdown. Please see this page for service changes that are a direct result of the shutdown, as well as other COVID-19 related protocols or changes in place at this time.

What’s open/not affected:

Grand River Transit

Grand River Transit (GRT) will operate on a holiday service schedule on Monday, February 15, 2021. Holiday service is noted on all route schedules.

GRT customer service locations and hours of operation:

  • 35 Ainslie St. S., Cambridge | 9:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • 105 King St. E., Kitchener | 9:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.


Region of Waterloo International Airport – Open - Will not be affected. 

Waste, recycling, and green bin  Curbside collection as usual on holiday Monday, February 15.  Please have items out by 7 a.m.

Both waste sites are closed on Family Day (February 15) for residential waste drop-off. 

What’s closed:

All Regional Administrative Offices (99 Regina – Waterloo, 150 Frederick – Kitchener, 150 Main – Cambridge, Airport Administrative offices) – Closed 

Cambridge and Waterloo small vehicle transfer stations for residential waste drop-off - Closed

Family Day at Region of Waterloo Museums

Region of Waterloo Museums, including Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum, Schneider Haus National Historic Site and McDougall Cottage Historic Site, are all currently closed.

All Region of Waterloo Library locations– Closed 

Welcome Spaces (formerly called Employment Resource Centres) – Closed

Region of Waterloo Children’s Centres and Home Child Care offices – Closed 

Sunnyside Home Reception and Administration – Closed

Sunnyside Wellness Centre – Closed
Remains closed for all services with the exception of physiotherapy and foot care appointments.

Community Alzheimer Day Program – Kitchener,  Cambridge and Waterloo – Closed
