Regional of Waterloo service changes for Easter weekend

Waterloo Region – Here’s a list of Region of Waterloo service changes for the Easter weekend (Friday, April 2nd to Monday, April 5th).

Please note: The Region of Waterloo continues to operate with service changes and COVID-19 related protocols due to the pandemic.

What’s open/not affected:

Garbage, recycling, green bin and yard waste collection – Not affected. Regular curbside waste collection on Friday, April 2 and Monday, April 5. Please have all items to the curb by 7 a.m.

Region of Waterloo Service First Call Centre – Remains open 24/7.

What’s closed/impacted:

All Regional Administrative Offices (99 Regina in Waterloo, 150 Frederick in Kitchener, 150 Main in Cambridge, Airport Administrative, Home Child Care offices) – Closed Friday, April 2 and Monday April 5.

Welcome Spaces (99 Regina in Waterloo, 235 King in Kitchener, 150 Main in Cambridge) – Closed Friday, April 2. Open Monday, April 5.

Transfer Stations for residential drop-off at both the Cambridge and Waterloo Waste Management sites – Closed Friday, April 2 and Monday April 5.

Grand River Transit (GRT) – Operating on a holiday service schedule on Friday, April 2 (Good Friday). Holiday service is noted on all route schedules. Spring service begins Monday, April 5 (Easter Monday). GRT will operate regularly scheduled service on Easter Monday.

GRT customer service locations and hours of operation:

  • 35 Ainslie St. S., Cambridge | 9:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • 105 King St. E., Kitchener | 9:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Region of Waterloo International Airport – Administration offices will be closed, airport operations will not be affected. 

Regional Children’s Centres – Closed Friday, April 2 and Monday April 5.

Sunnyside Seniors Services – Sunnyside Home Reception and administration is closed Friday, April 2 and Monday, April 5.

Sunnyside Wellness Centre – Closed Friday, April 2 and open Monday, April 5. The centre remains closed for all services with the exception of physiotherapy and foot care appointments.

Community Alzheimer day programs – Kitchener, Cambridge and Waterlooclosed Friday, April 2 and Monday, April 5. Overnight stay is open.

Region of Waterloo Library – All branches are closed Friday, April 2 but are open regular hours on Saturday, April 3. Branches will be closed on Sunday, April 4 and Monday, April 5. For branch hours, please visit rwlibrary.ca.

Region of Waterloo Museums – All sites including Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum, Schneider Haus National Historic Site, and McDougall Cottage Historic Site are closed due to COVID-19. Schneider Haus is currently displaying an outdoor exhibit, Inking the Bond: Memorial Tattoos, which visitors are free to visit until 10 p.m. each night, however the house remains closed.
