Regional flags will be lowered in memory of former Waterloo Regional Councillor Lynne Woolstencroft
Flags at Regional buildings will be lowered in memory of former Waterloo Regional Councillor Lynne Woolstencroft who passed away on Monday, May 13, 2013. Lynne was a member of Regional Council representing the City of Waterloo for 12 years – 3 of those years as Mayor of the City of Waterloo. As Regional Councillor, Lynne actively promoted good environmental practices. She served on the Waterloo Regional Police Services Board where her collaborative style assisted in the relationship between the police services board and the service. Lynne was also appointed by Council to the Grand River Conservation Authority where her passion for the natural environment helped to highlight the importance of regional wetlands and water resource protection. A great advocate for citizen engagement, she was well known throughout Waterloo Region for her commitment and actions to make local government more accessible to its citizens. Lynne was recently honoured by Regional Council with the 2012 Jack Young Civic Award for her outstanding service to the community.
