Region working with local business to prepare for ION

Waterloo Region – The Region of Waterloo, in partnership with the Waterloo Region Small Business Centre, will host a series of four free workshops for local business owners to help prepare them for ION construction.

“We recognize that disruption due to construction can be challenging for small businesses,” said Jim Wideman, Regional Councillor and Chair of the Planning and Works Committee. “That’s why we’ve partnered with the Small Business Centre to support and prepare our local businesses for ION construction now, and to get them thinking long-term, so we can assist them in developing solutions to minimize the impacts during construction.”

The four free workshops will take place over the next year with the goal of helping business owners prepare for ION construction. Attendees will be presented with tools and strategies on how to forecast for changes in operations as well as learn the importance of smart marketing, social media, joint promotions and partnerships in creating and retaining customers before and during ION construction.

In addition to the workshop series, business owners will be encouraged to utilize the other services offered by the Waterloo Region Small Business Centre, including one-on-one business advisor consultations, access to professional mentoring programs, networking opportunities, seminars and other events.
