Region to seek direction from courts on next steps at encampment
Waterloo Region – The Region will seek direction from the court on next steps if there is no voluntary compliance to vacate the encampment at 100 Victoria Street on or before June 30.
Through this process, all interested parties will be provided with an opportunity to have their views made known.
This means that no clearing of the site will take place on June 30 and timing of any further activity will be subject to the court process.
The Region is committed to ensuring the site is vacated in a safe manner and individuals at the site are aware of available services and supports.
Outreach partners and Regional Ontario Works staff will continue to work with individuals at the site to connect all individuals to services.
Temporary storage of belongings has also been offered to help individuals move from the site.
On June 6, in response to increasing safety concerns and a growing number of individuals at the site, the Region of Waterloo issued a Notice to Vacate to individuals encamped at 100 Victoria Street.
