Region seeks parent input on future of child care and early learning
Waterloo Region – The Region has launched a parent survey to better understand how well the early learning and child care system is serving local families, what barriers exist, and where improvements are needed.
“By taking a planned and strategic approach, in collaboration with community partners, we will work to ensure that Waterloo Region is a community where all children thrive,” Barbara Cardow, Director, Children’s Services. “This work will help guide us in our journey towards an accessible, affordable, high quality, equitable, and inclusive early learning and child care system.”
The survey is for all parents and caregivers who live in Waterloo Region and have at least one child age 12 years or younger. This includes all families who use child care or EarlyON programs, as well as those who do not. The survey is open until April 16th.
As the Consolidated Municipal Service Manager (CMSM), the Region of Waterloo, Children’s Services is engaging in system wide planning for licensed early learning and child care services. This survey is the first phase of stakeholder engagement, which will help inform the Child Care and Early Learning Service System Plan for 2021-2025.This plan will act as our road map for the next four years.
In the coming weeks and over the next four years, engagement will continue with parents, including Indigenous and racialized communities and other marginalized families, along with community partners and child care operators.
Parents can visit the Engage Waterloo Region page, which will be updated as new information becomes available.
