Region’s New Welcome Space in Kitchener Improves Access

Waterloo Region – The Region of Waterloo’s Welcome Space in Kitchener has relocated from 235 King Street East to 20 Weber Street East as of September 18, 2023. This includes supports for Ontario Works, Child Care Subsidy, Employment Services and Housing Services. All services continued during the move.

“The Region of Waterloo is transforming its workspaces to continue to deliver high-quality services for the community,” said Tracey Segeren, Manager, Property Management, Corporate Facilities and Fleet Management, Region of Waterloo. “The relocation and improvements to 20 Weber are part of a larger project that will see the Region reduce the office space it leases and requires, saving about $1.2 million a year on future capital costs.”

The new space at 20 Weber includes improved accessibility, which will include two universal washrooms and a modern design, once renovations are complete.

The Region has three Welcome Spaces that help people who need in-person support to navigate the various programs. The other two locations are 150 Main Street, Cambridge and 99 Regina Street South, Waterloo.
