Region’s Commissioner brings experience and heart to the Ontario Public Works Association as President for 2024
Waterloo Region – On January 18, 2024, Jennifer Rose, Commissioner of Engineering and Environmental Services for the Region of Waterloo, took the helm at the Ontario Public Works Association (OPWA) as president for a one-year term.
“It is an honour and privilege to lead a membership of professionals from across the province that is dedicated to excellence in public works service delivery and support within their communities,” said Jennifer Rose, commissioner, Region of Waterloo.
The OPWA is a not-for-profit organization that works to advance member success through mutual support, knowledge sharing and relationship building for all of public works across Ontario.
“On behalf of Regional Council, I am very proud to have Jennifer bring her passion for public works to this association,” said Councillor Colleen James, Chair of the Planning and Works Committee. “The collaboration and innovation that comes from this organization will benefit our community as we continue to deliver on these essential services.”
Ms. Rose has been on the OPWA board for 18 years and a valued member of the public works community for over 19 years.
“I love that we deliver essential services to residents and doing that in a way that looks after our planet is vital. As president, I look forward to ensuring our association is inclusive by supporting diversity and a sense of belonging.”
The OPWA is the Ontario Chapter of the Canadian Public Works Association (CPWA) and the American Public Works Association (APWA) and is the largest Canadian Chapter in the APWA with approximately 600 public work practitioners.
