Region requests Public Input on Cambridge Centre Transit Terminal Public Art
Waterloo Region – Following a public Call to Artists issued in October 2015, three artist’s proposals have been shortlisted in the Region’s juried pubic artwork selection process for the future Cambridge Centre Transit Terminal.
Artists were asked to develop concepts that were community focused, engaging, accessible, inclusive, and have an interactive component. The public artwork is intended to add pleasure and interest to the transit rider experience, and to enhance the character of the public space.
The shortlisted public artwork proposals are:
- Pin Art by Ken Hall
- Wormhole by Lilly Otasevic
- Flow by the Contemporary Projects Collective
The Region invites citizens to comment on the shortlisted proposals either in person or online. Scale replicas and artist’s statements for the three proposed artworks will be on public display at three events:
- February 1-5, 2016 at Cambridge City Hall (50 Dickson St. Cambridge)
- February 5-12, 2016 at the Cambridge Centre mall (355 Hespeler Rd. Cambridge)
- February 16-25, 2016 at the Regional Administrative Headquarters (150 Frederick St. Kitchener)
You can also view and comment on the proposals at www.regionofwaterloo.ca/publicart.
Public input received will be made available to the jury, who will be recommending one of these artworks to Regional Council for their approval. Subject to Council approval, the selected artwork will be commissioned and incorporated into the terminal as part of the ongoing construction project.
