Region recognizes employee contributions (1)
Waterloo Region – Recipients of the Region’s Employee Awards for Values Excellence, were recognized at Regional Council today for their outstanding contributions to the community.
These employees exemplify the Region’s values of service, integrity, respect, innovation and collaboration that guide how the Region works with citizens, customers, colleagues and community partners.
“Regional Council encourages, supports and indeed expects high standards from its employees because it believes in them and because our community deserves no less,” said Regional Chair Ken Seiling. “These awards highlight just a few of the many examples where this is happening and why we are so proud of Regional employees.”
Eleven awards were presented to individuals and groups who were celebrated for demonstrating the Region’s values in their work. Examples of their significant contributions ranged from supporting people who have experienced persistent homelessness to a kind bus driver who went above and beyond by looking after a lost child. They were recognized for unparalleled citizen satisfaction scores in rural libraries, for solving airline passenger problems, caring for the elderly with integrity, creating a call centre that will significantly improve customer service, and for innovations that have put money in the pockets of citizens for their children’s future education.
“I was pleased to see almost 300 employees nominated for their exceptional work that demonstrates our values in action. Our staff take pride in the fact that the Region makes a positive difference every day and provides great value to the community. It’s what motivates all of us,” said Mike Murray, Chief Administrative Officer.
