Region Opens Expressions of Interest for Interim Housing Solutions

Waterloo Region – The Region is welcoming Expressions of Interest from Service Providers to identify operators for three of the Interim Housing Solutions, including:

• Transitional Housing
• Emergency Shelter
• Hybrid Shelter/Outdoor Model

The Expressions of Interest (EOI) will remain open for three weeks, closing on October 17, 2022.

These program expansions and additions are part of the Interim Housing Solutions strategy approved by Region of Waterloo Council in August. The strategy responds to the escalating growth of homelessness in Waterloo Region.

Work is ongoing for the Indigenous-led Transitional Housing Expression of Interest. The Region also plans to release an Expression of Interest for property owners to identify any additional sites for Interim Housing Solutions. This will supplement the inventory of Region owned sites under review.

As the Service System Manager for Housing and Homelessness, the Region is working with community partners and area municipalities on this very complex issue.
